Assassin’s Creed is an action-adventure video game series developed by Ubisoft. It was created by Patrice Désilets, Jade Raymond, and Corey May. The first game was released on November 13, 2007, for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, later for Windows.
The series centers on the conflict between two secret factions: the Assassins, who fight for freedom, and the Templars, who seek control through order. Players relive historical events through genetic memories using a device called the Animus.
The original game follows Altaïr during the Third Crusade in 1191. Later titles explore different eras and regions: the Italian Renaissance with Ezio Auditore, the American Revolution, Victorian London, Ancient Egypt, Greece, and the Viking Age.
Main titles include:
Assassin’s Creed (2007)
AC II, Brotherhood, Revelations
AC III, Liberation, AC IV: Black Flag
Rogue, Unity, Syndicate
Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, Mirage
The games combine history and science fiction with open-world exploration, parkour, stealth, and combat mechanics. Historical figures like Leonardo da Vinci, Cleopatra, and George Washington appear throughout the series.
With over 200 million copies sold, Assassin’s Creed is one of the best-selling game franchises of all time. Ubisoft continues to expand the universe with upcoming titles, TV adaptations, and films.
